Ortofon proudly presents MC Vertex, the most advanced moving coil cartridge the company has developed to date. Designed as a fully integrated system, MC Vertex brings together new materials, refined geometry, and precision manufacturing to achieve a higher level of accuracy in groove tracing and signal generation.With MC Vertex, Ortofon set out to rethink how a cartridge interacts with the groove at the most fundamental level. By developing a new diamond geometry and combining it with advanced materials and precise mechanical control, Ortofon created a design where every element works in balance. The result is a cartridge that delivers both accuracy and musical coherence at the highest level.

THE VERTEX DIAMOND

At the core of MC Vertex is the newly developed Vertex diamond, engineered by Ortofon with an advanced line contact geometry. It features a scanning radius of 4 μm and an extended contact radius of 110 μm, significantly exceeding conventional designs. This enlarged contact area improves pressure distribution along the groove walls, enabling more stable tracking, lower wear, and more consistent retrieval of fine groove detail.The diamond is mounted intoa solid diamond cantilever, forming a highly rigid and low-mass structure that ensures efficient energy transfer and controlled mechanical behavior.

TITANIUM STRUCTURE AND CONTROL

The cartridge housing and internal core are produced in titanium using Selective Laser Melting, allowing precise control of geometry, mass distribution, and internal damping. The result is a mechanically stable structure that reduces unwanted resonances and supports clean, accurate signal reproduction.

MAGNETIC SYSTEM DESIGN

A refined magnetic system with a non-magnetic armature reduces moving mass and eliminates unwanted magnetic interactions. Combined with high-purity silver coils, this ensures stable and linear signal generation with improved transient response and precise tracking across the frequency range.

WIDE RANGE DAMPING

Mechanical behavior is further controlled by Ortofon’s patented Wide Range Damping system, which uses a platinum disc between two dampers produced from proprietary Ortofon rubber compounds to manage resonance across the audible frequency range while maintaining dynamic responsiveness.
